Venturon Charolais
Venturon Charolais was founded in 1994 by Andrew and Anne through the purchase of a stud female from the Culham Charolais stud Dispersal. Females were then selected from Kooyong and Breakaway Herds. Since then female lines were added from the Linkletter Dispersal in 2006. In recent times we have added elite female lines from throughout the world, as our strong belief is that the female herd is the engine room of any operation. We have recently added female lines from DSK, Fernvale and Palgrove Charolais studs in Australia and Rosso Charolais stud in Canada.
Today we run 130 Stud females selling 25 Charolais Bulls annually. Our main aim is to produce sires that can perform in a range of environments. We aim to breed bulls with high growth, adequate fat cover, calving ease and docile temperaments. We feel our female herd is what sets us apart from our competitors. Our females are bred to have plenty of milk and longevity, with good hair types and feet a must. We source our AI sires globally, constantly searching for genetics we feel will take us to the next level. These sires are met with a walking sire batteries of which have met all of the requirement’s we are looking for in our herd. Each year we undertake a large ET and AI program to ensure our client are gaining access to the best genetics we can offer..
Venturon Angus was founded in 2017 through the Purchase of Canadian Outcross embryos from the DSK stud Coonabarabran, NSW. The DSK stud was chosen to source outcross genetics, due to their strong belief in commercial traits such as carcass quality, milk, growth rates and docility.
Later that year we were given the opportunity to expand the herd with the purchase of the Pick of the Diamond Tree M female drop off the Schwartz family. This gave us a very even female base to start off with generations of strong maternal lines backing them, with some of the top sires around the world included. Other elite foundation females were added to the herd from Monterey, DSK and Coonamble Angus Studs. Recently we have added embryos from the KO Angus Stud, Hamilton Farms program in Canada and other elite exclusive genetics from the DSK Stud. Each year we undertake a large ET program to continually grow our herd and ensure we are always offering our clients the best genetics from our program.
Formerly Mighty Murray Greys until 2019, was founded in 2001 by Harris at the age of 4 through a female purchased at the Yolgerup Murray Grey Stud Dispersal. Other key females and a key walking sire were added from the Karakara herd dispersal which shaped the herd to what it is today.
In 2015 we purchased the remainder of the Bundaleer herd of which had been retained by Sam Owen after the Bundaleer Dispersal. By adding one of the best Murray Grey herds in the country to our program, it gave us the opportunity to offer our clients a larger selection of sires backed by some of the best genetics in the breed. This combined with our already existing herd proved to work well producing genetics that have been sold Australia wide to stud and commercial operations. In 2017 we purchased the Roxxy Parks herd which gave us access to new female lines and outcross genetics to continually improve our herd. After 18 years of breeding Murray Greys we made the decision as a family to incorporate Mighty Murray Greys into the family business, Venturon Livestock which then lead to a Stud name change to streamline all of our programs together.
In 2017 Harris was awarded the ‘Lindsay Murray Greys’ Most Potential Murray Grey Breeder” award at the annual Murray Grey youth stock show, which gave him a $3000 Scholarship toward any animal in the sale that he purchased. Harris selected a cow calf unit from the Waroona Stud of NSW. This cow/calf pair have since performed really well raising three sale bulls and a daughter between them as well as adding a new female line to the herd. In recent years females have been added from the Glenliam Farm and Southend herds and select walking sires have been added from Bundaleer, Rouchelle and Double A Murray Grey studs.
Venturon White Suffolks
Venturon White Suffolks was founded in 2016 when Harris returned home to the farm from AG College. Foundation ewes were purchased from Peejay, Annagh Downs, Wingamin, Ironstone Ridge, Anna Villa and Bundara Downs Studs. Originally we started breeding rams for our own program but when the opportunity arose to purchase the Tamar Gully Stud off of Peter and Carol Forrest in 2018 we jumped at the opportunity.
Giving us a well-established flock and a client list, we continued to breed sheep of the same design to ensure our clients were supplied with rams that met their requirements. Sires have been added to our program from Bundara Downs, Brimfield, Golden Hill, Kohat, Kiara and Ramsay Park Studs. We have undertaken several ET programs utilising Industry leading sires from across Australia and our elite selected ewes to ensure our clients are met with the best possible genetics we can supply them with.
